Unitarian Univeralism is a noncreedal theologically liberal denomination that is dedicated to a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. We are committed to being a welcoming congregation and our members come from a wide variety of religious backgrounds. Below you will find our Statement of Purpose, Vision Statement, and the 7 UUA Principles. Covenant: Statement of Purpose We gather together in the love of truth and the spirit of religious and philosophical freedom. We acknowledge the spirit of Jesus, and the worship of God in our religious heritage. We unite for the discovery of self and the improvement of the human condition. Vision Statement We, the members of First Church Unitarian Universalist, dedicate ourselves to walk together in ways of truth, goodness, and beauty, to be an anti-racist, democratic, nurturing community of love, to be a support to each other in times of need, and to stand in the larger community for those values of tolerance, justice, equality and love by which we attempt to live our lives. UUA Principles We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote The inherent worth and dignity of every person; Justice, equity and compassion in human relations; Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations; A free and responsible search for truth and meaning; The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large; The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all; Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. |
